So Rich Givens from flying disc magazine caught me on Tape right after Wednesdays rounds were complete at this years worlds. With Nikko up by 3 strokes I was pretty amped up and let a nice message fly out.
The Idea that players having to throw discs from one company exclusively has never really been that comfortable for me.
Even though I really love the loyalty that our sponsored players have shown, Its just doesn't seem like the best way to grow disc golf.
Everyone likes a nice rivalry and of course its not that big of deal to hear Cubs Suck or Chevy sucks or whatever,,,, those guys all make millions of dollars whether people think they suck or not!
Its not helping our small time sport so much and doesn't help our image to non competitive disc golfers.
I received a tip years ago about contracting " never cut down other roofing or construction companies as it only establishes and reinforces distrust about the industry as a whole. I used this information wisely and always refrained from talking bad about other companies to customers.
Check out this video to here and see some of my thoughts.

Feature story on Nikko in Kzoo newspaper
Well Nikko didn't finish as well as he started at this year PDGA worlds In Kalamazoo Mi. Leading by as much as 4 strokes after the 1/2 way point in the event, Nikko wound up in 10th place, when it was all said and done.
I'm sure its not what he expected after having the lead but its a great accomplishment and learning experience, plus he's got years and years ahead of him,,,,, this wont be his last chance at a big title!!!!
I watched him play rounds 3-8 in the lead group, everyone with the eventual winner and 2008 pdga mens open world Champion, Dave Feldberg.
While Nikko was playing well everything seemed fine, but once he started throwing bad shots the wheels just seemed to come off.
His drives were not getting close on some easy holes and his putting game seemed to slip away. He still made several big putts but missed some really makable ones too!
Here is a link to the feature article the Kzoo Newspaper did on Nikko!

Nikko's looking good so far1
Well 5 rounds are down so far at this years PDGA world championship in Central Michigan and 19 year old Nikko Locastro ( my nephew) is leading by 3 over this tough and experinced field. Ive watched him play quite a few holes and he seems as poised as anyone atthis event.
Nikko says he really likes the courses and feels they suit his game well.
On the leader card for tomorrow will be Nikko, at -51, Dave Feldberg at-48, Geoff Bennett at -42 and climbing his way to the leader card for the first time is Ken Climo 10 back at -41.
Those of you pulling for Nikko feel free to post a comment giving him support and encouragement.
I have a ton of pictures and a few videos but dont have my cable to upload them, maybe tomorrow.

Nikkos practice ace at worlds.
Apparently Nikko aced hole#10 at Victory Park in practice.
From Greg Hosfeld's blog: http://www.onegranddiscgolftour.com/
Quote:
We got a late start on our way to Albion’s Victory Park (#908) This is a pristine park with a river slowly meandering through. Complete with a dam waterfall and some ponds that come into play in the middle of the track.
When we reached hole 10, Nikko anhyzered his putter exactly 327’ over the river and directly into the chains for a very smooooth ace! The mower, who had been stopping to allow us to drive (even the mowers observe the rules of etiquette!) drove up and congratulated Nikko, saying he’d never seen anyone ace the hole. Chances are he won’t again for a while.
There are some big shots on this course but most of the holes are birdie-able according to par. There’s a 990 footer but also a little finesse 167 footer over the stream for balance. Victory park should see some good score movement during next week’s disc golf marathon.
Shown here is Nikko at the basket with two guys on the tee to the left
